VIDEO'S OF THE MONTH
April 21st, 2018
Stumbling across Mojave Nomads at this point in their career almost seems like a blessing and a curse. The blessing of course, is being able to watch this band expand to it's explosive capabilities in todays scene. The curse is that there just isn't enough music to meld into. With only 2 EP's, these Utah natives aren't wasting any time infiltrating the alternative/vintage throw back era that is currently growing in Rock.
"Phases", their new release with Standby Records showcases their unique blend of lyrics with depth and theatrical musicality. Each song feels like a handcrafted soundtrack, blending vintage sounds with modern vibes.
"I've gone off the deep end and I'm never coming back!"
- MORNING GLORY
Though the band has been together since 2014 there isn't much out there about them. You can see that things are coming, the band is growing and they are cementing their style as they start to branch out further. Though they just released their first video "Creature Double Feature", I'm still wanting more!
Songs like "Talk of the Town" round out the sound of the EP and quickly become catchy favorites that you have to replay over and over. So, here I am guys...patiently awaiting another video.
Music is certainly evolving and modern rock is changing with it. Though the feel is familiar, the flavor is all new.
All I know is, someone needs to put this on vinyl.

I'm not even sure how to begin this because I just want you to find these guys on tour and go watch them immediately!! GO!!
Well...since you're still here...
This has become one of my favorite CD's in my "concert impulse buy" section, welcome 'Forged By Fortitude' you'll fit in just fine here. It took me a bit to write about this CD because I started off with some mixed feelings, but now I have favorites and I'm diving into the music in a completely different way.
We all know, here at The O.M.E.N. we're obsessive over key lyrics and if you're as intense as we are, you'll love these tag lines so hard, you'll be head-banging in the laundry room to the song in your head.
"Kill all my foes that will try to inhibit me!"
- FEED THE NEED
These Texas boys are doing it right because this CD is MEATY! You can almost feel the scolding hot Texas air when you really open your ears up. It still has to be said, these gentleman are insanely amazing to watch live. The CD really doesn't do them any justice. These songs hit hard and if you really trust me, you need the in person, nitty gritty, sweaty experince! I get it, you probably can't do this right now and you may just think I'm insane (blah, blah, blah), but I promise....they're worth a watch.
Lucky you...because, they're on tour right NOW with Adelitas Way and Taking Dawn! So, I strongly suggest, you go get a ticket, check these guys out and see for yourself. After you do that, buy the CD, sit at home and feel like me...missing the intensity from that LIVE performance but still craving more and willing to take the ride into fandom.

What's the shortest song you remember? Do you get upset when you hear something that only lasts a bit over a minute...well, this song might not be for you but that doesn't mean it isn't going down in rock glory! DYNE SIDE released their new single "Sit Down" and if you're not paying attention you just might miss the 54 second powerhouse!
I know what you're thinking..."It's no Napalm Death 'You Suffer' ok!" (That's right, the guys from ND gave us the shortest song in commercially recored history with a full 1.316 seconds of musical brilliance.)
When I chatted with DS vocalist Emmanuel Costa-Maya about the inspiration behind this head-banging snip-it, he reminded me what music was all about...FUN!
"It was just supposed to be for our live shows. We were having fun with the song live; so we said why not, let's just record it."
54 seconds of METAL bliss...I'll take it! Along with the release of their latest album "Immigrant", DYNE SIDE has proven to be a staple in the resurgence of the SoFL Metal Scene. With clean vocals, emotional screams and captivating musicianship; the band seems to have found its way with its unique take and brilliant song writing.

"I'm About To Break"
I was sitting at home one day, filled with boredom and swiping through way too many food pics on IG. I stumbled upon The Scars Heal In Time so I immediately had to stop what I was doing and listen to their music. Rocking straight out of Houston, TX sisters Kayla (Guitar & Vocals) & Tayler (Drums) united to bring a high energy radio-ready style that encompasses the best parts of the female-led metal band sound.
"The more I pretend to be something I'm not the more I finally fit in."
They're hungry and you can hear it in their sound, see it in their performance and feel it in the connection they make with fans. I don't think I've taken off my hoodie since I bought it!
If you haven't checked them out yet, it is a must for those who are fans of music that is motivational and strong. This is a band to watch! Get on board now so you don't miss a single beat.
When you come out the gate with a song like "I'm About To Break" you know you're meant to be in music. It's well written and executed extremely well...I don't just mean for young women just starting out...I mean it's fucking great!
Kayla & Tayler have so much time to hone their craft that I'm sure within the next couple of years they will be a household name; creating a fanbase of loyal fans like I was with Blink 182 in the early 2000's.
Yeah, I know what you're thinking, I'm old and what do I know? I know for a fact these young women are discussing truly introspective topics with their music, they're dedicated and by far one of the nicest people I've ever met.
"Now I'm the one who takes the fall."

ACAEDIA's release of "DIVIDED" packed a huge punch today, literally rocking me to my musical core. If you've missed out on all the recent ACAEDIA excitement let me give you a quick run down on how this local SoFL band is shaking up the interwebs.
After their acclaimed release of "Metalcito" their "Despacito" metal remix, ACAEDIA comes out swinging with a very loud reminder that they aren't just here for a catchy cover. They've got skills and they're about to drag you into the most intense case of fandom you've had, since Hulk Hogan put on his yellow panties!
"DIVIDED" takes you on a hardcore rollercoaster ride. It gives you all those deep metal feels as it sends a VERY CLEAR message to our current struggles as a nation; reaching into the deepest darkest parts of a "metalheads" heart and ripping out that unbridled unified spirit that all of us banging are heads are really listening for.
Yes, I cried...don't judge me, this is some of the most intense 3 minutes and 23 seconds I've had the pleasure of jamming to in a while.
"Eye for an eye is not the answer if you wanna cure this cancer."
The song is full of impactful and introspective lyrics, that if you truly listen, WILL make you feel the overwhelming rage that is currently plaguing so many of us in an uncertain political climate.
As they scream "this isn't who we are" I find myself connected even further. I'm diving deep into the ACAEDIA hype because it's completely and utterly worth drowning in!
The musicianship is so intense that you can feel the pain in every riff and hear it with every scream, it's piercing!
The haunting combination of vocals from Eddy Madero and Ray Jimenez makes you beg for more. I guarantee you that you will find yourself consumed by a guitar solo that makes guitarist Javier Sardinas look like a damn rock god (ok, maybe that was too far but HOLY SHIT it's FUCKING AMAZING). The rhythmic addiction created in the song is being pounded out on drums by Mike Collantes and it brings me back...back to High School when the songs were like crack and I could scream them at the top of my lungs as tears fell from my face, feeling alone, feeling unwanted, feeling lost. Those songs united a generation, and "DIVIDED" has the ability to bring you back to that feeling, punch it in the face and give you more!
"This isn't who we are. We divide ourselves into worthless pieces, blinded by our own hate."
